Gerwick’s capabilities in designing marine foundations for major bridges includes risk analysis for ship collision and design of various different ship protection systems. Depending on the type of project, conservative static loads can be applied or more accurate but complex dynamic methods, such as nonlinear incremental integration including the stiffness of the bridge foundation and stiffness/crumpling properties of the colliding vessel. We can design scour stone islands, fendering systems, and concrete armor to protect piers.
